Blue Note Jazz Pianist Jason Moran, discussing Monk...

This was a really cool clip because I've never heard ANYONE discuss the creative challenges that come up when playing Thelonius Monk compositions. Almost every time you hear a jazz player playing a Monk tune, there is a HEAVY inclination (ESPECIALLY for pianists) to play with Monk's rhythmic feel and melodic inflections. After the discussion, Jason gets into his own arrangement of a Monk classic and it is just GORGEOUS. Check it out...
